Mutete Bakhita (@mutete_bakhita) is the Gen Z currently behind 25sw4p, Kenya’s first clothes swap. A sustainable way to refreshing one’s wardrobe, anyone and everyone can attend the swap meets. Participants bring clothing items they no longer wear in exchange for items from another participant.
Beyond clothes swapping, Mutete is creating a sustainable community in Kenya. Through mindful conversations during the swaps themselves and their social media, 25sw4p shares information on the African textile industry and educates on how we can only become ethical consumers in the fashion industry. Even if you are not currently in Kenya, if you would like to learn more about Sustainable practices down to an individual level, 25sw4p would be a great place to start!
