What is swapping?Swapping is essentially barter trading where swappers get a chance to 'exchange' valuable and quality clothes and books. Swappers do not pay for individual pieces of clothes or books, they instead pay an entrance fee.
-
How often are swap meets? We strive to have swap meets on the last Saturday of every month.
-
What are the minimum amount of clothes I can bring?Swappers can bring from as few as 5 clothes to a maximum of 15 and 2-3 books. If you would like to bring more than 15 clothes or 3 books, feel free to! However, you can only leave with the maximum amount of clothes and books we allow.
-
What is a quality check?Upon arrival at the swap meet, all items go through a quality check to make sure that they are of quality. Even though we perform a quality check when we receive items, we urge you to familiarize yourself with our quality standard below so as to know what we expect. We DO NOT accept items that are: 1. Damaged or defected. 2. Shoes with wear and tear. 3. Missing buttons or have broken/missing zippers. 4. Unsealed/used underwear. 5. Socks that have been worn. 6. Corporate merch/promotional items. 7. Smelling or have an odor. 8. Completely filled with pet fur. 9. Stained with sweat, food, bodily fluids or drink. We appreciate clothes that are clean! Ready to be worn by other swappers. As a way of respecting each other, please make sure the above is followed.
-
What happens to 'rejected' clothes?Lightly used clothes and clothes that do not pass our quality check aka the vibe check, will be lovingly taken to Africa Collect Textiles. They are a recycling firm that turn such textiles into beautiful and 'new' material.

What is the social impact of 25SW4P?The core of 25SW4P swap meets is our community. Our swap meets not only provide a soft landing for those new to sustainability and want to kickstart their journey, but also raise awareness around the social and environmental impacts that the textile and fashion industry has on our land, with a geographical focus on the African continent. Our swap meets have interactive sessions where the swappers play games, and activities and have thought-provoking discussions. Together, as a community, we talk about the current policies surrounding textiles and fashion, second-hand clothes, and landfills, as well as come up with practical and relatable solutions. Our swappers leave our space with more knowledge, tools and information as far as sustainability within fashion is concerned. We welcome people from all walks of life, it is a safe space for everyone to network and learn from each other.
-
Why are 25SW4P swap meets so distinct?25SW4P is here for the long game, we are climate activists and sustainability educators that means that we go beyond just the swap meets. in addition, we have built a Kenyan community and safe space where swappers feel like they belong and can learn all about sustainability and the Kenyan textile industry without judgement. We also give small businesses, artisans and artists an opportunity to sell the products and services during the swap meets. Kenyans are talented, they deserve to be seen. Plus, our founder is the one and only Mutete Bakhita.
-
What is the payment method? For now, the only payment method we accept is MPESA: Buy Goods. The information can be found on our 'Upcoming swap meets' page as well as the event's poster once the announcement is made.
-
How can I become a vendor?Once you have read our requirements on this page, by following the link at the bottom of the page (we have different forms for product-based businesses and service providers), you can access google forms. We have a clear vetting process that makes sure that the vendors that come through our doors have the qualities we are looking for. Kindly note that as we area swap meet, we do not accept vendors that sell textile products (clothes, shoes, hats etc)
-
Why doesn't 25SW4P allow clothing vendors? This is due to the simple fact that swapping is quite literally the exchange of clothes. Swapping is a way to encourage conscious consumerism as well as sustainability through the release of clothes in an eco-friendly way. It would be quite redundant to have vendors that sell clothes. We, however, will always support thrift shops, sustainable clothing brands and local designers.
-
